From the suites of Davos to the streets of Seattle, there is a growing consensus that globalization must now be reshaped to reflect values broader than simply the freedom of capital.

– John J. Sweeney

I confess I’ve never been to Davos or Seattle. I’m a student in the UK, working towards a master’s degree in International Political Economy.

This blog is intended for me to reflect upon my studies and my field, as well as to preach, review, highlight and share articles, opinions and news. I intend to focus on the perennial issues of political economy and globalisation, as well as addressing current affairs in this area. Both the blog itself and my studies are of course a learning experience, so I fully expect my views and focus to evolve over time.

Credo

Of course, I am small before the great, weak before the powerful, cowardly before the violent, wavering before the aggressive, expendable before It, which is so vast and durable that I sometimes think it is immortal. I don’t turn the other cheek to it. I don’t shoot it with a slingshot; I look, and then I collect my words.

Contact

I would be glad to welcome contributions, writings, comments, links and submissions from readers. Please get in touch!

Comments policy

As I’ve said above, comments are very welcome. However, there are some basic rules of courtesy to be observed. Obviously spam will be deleted. Abusive comments, ad hominem attacks and other tiresome immaturity will not be tolerated. Please do not comment solely in order to promote your own site. I view comments as part of a conversation and plan to treat them as such. I’m not given to unecessary censorship and the conversation is probably going to be more interesting if the participants disagree at least some of the time. However, there is a difference between debate and argument and I’d like to cultivate the former. Other than that, I look forward to hearing from readers and, I hope, learning something from the discussion.
